The Solution: the Labpoint PHIELD Appliance

The Labpoint PHIELD Appliance is a single 1u server which is installed inside your firewall. The system integrates with your Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) and serves as a middleware component which continually monitors your laboratory data for significant results. Once these results are identified they can be securely transmitted to an internal or external entity.

The PHIELD system offers:
  • "filter" customization - You can use the simple PHIELD web interface to create your own "filters" to identify key lab results, or if you prefer we can create the necessary filters for you per your high-level requirements.
  • input format customization - The system can receive data from either a TCP/IP socket or file based input source and can accept any flat file format or the standard Health Level 7 (HL7) message format.
  • output format customization - The system outputs data in the standard Health Level 7 (HL7) format, but can be configured to output data in virtually any text based format.
  • high performance - The system can handle large quantities of lab data activity.
  • low maintenance - We monitor and update the server as necessary. We will work with your internal network operations staff to coordinate backups, system scans, etc. to meet your organization's requirements.
